Background

Amanda has been working as a massage therapist and personal trainer since 2000. She has worked with top level and professional sports including Rugby, Netball, Cricket, and tennis. In the clinic Amanda not only works with sports people, but individuals with chronic pain and lifestyle aches and pains.

Personally, Amanda has competed nationally and internationally in Ballroom Dancing and Body Sculpting and also trained in martial arts, she has a passion for cooking and nutrition and a love of animals.

Amanda is also a mother of two active children involved in a multiple of sports including, surf lifesaving, rugby, swimming, and tennis, giving her a knowledge of many sporting activities, and how to juggle the complexities of work, family, and life balance.

WHAT TYPES OF MASSAGES ARE AVAILABLE?

 

  • Sports Massage
    Designed to support all athletes in competition, training and off-season phases. Specific techniques are utilized to maximize performance.
  • Deep Tissue Massage
    Deep tissue massage releases tension in the body through applying slow deep pressure to the deeper layers of muscles.
  • Myofascial Release
    The therapist uses gentle sustained pressure to release fascia (surrounds the muscle) to help improve flexibility, reduce pain and increase circulation.
  • Pregnancy Massage
    Pregnancy massage is aimed at relaxing the pregnant woman and promoting health by applying light to moderate pressure to areas of discomfort. (usually in the side-lying position).
  • Relaxation/Swedish
    A relaxation massage uses light to moderate strokes to release tension, and stress, to balance the mind body and soul.
  • Trigger Point Therapy
    Trigger point therapy involves applying pressure to tender areas in the muscle (knots) in order to relieve pain and dysfunction which is often felt by other parts of the body.
  • Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT)
    NMT is a holistic form of massage that aims to restore the body’s correct postural balance to help alleviate the area of soft tissue pain. Injuries and chronic pain may be prevented with this technique.

Strength and Conditioning 

with Elevate Tennis

 

Amanda is also the strength and conditioning coach for Elevate Tennis Academy, working with a national winning tennis academy to develop the next wave of high performance junior athletes. 

Amanda is in charge of leading the Strength and Conditioning programme for all the academy and pre academy players, including both private and group sessions.

Programs are created with a holistic approach, incorporating her knowledge in injury prevention, management and recovery. She also takes on a management roll during tournaments and trips. 

Unfortunately, Amanda only works exclusively with Elevate academy players or other junior tennis players under agreement.
