What to Expect From Your Consultation

Initial Consultation:

  • You will be sent a pre-appointment online questionnaire to complete (takes approx 15 mins)
  • On arrival at the clinic you will complete a consent form and pain drawing.
  • Your initial consultation will be 1 hour in duration.
  • Your referrer, GP and ACC/insurer will be sent a full report after the consultation.

Examination
Your Specialist Physiotherapist will listen to your history and ask you about previous treatment, your symptoms, and your expectations for recovery. They will then examine the area and perform a series of tests that may include movement and strength testing. It is advisable to wear clothing that will enable them to see and test the area of concern.

Treatment
After examining you, the Specialist Physiotherapist will discuss their findings and your treatment options with you. You will have the opportunity to talk to them about any specific concerns you may have.

Occasionally further imaging investigations or tests may be needed to help to determine the best management for your condition.

Specialist Physiotherapists don't provide ongoing, routine rehabilitation services. If ongoing physiotherapy treatment or rehabilitation is required the Specialist Physiotherapist may either refer you back to your physiotherapist if you already have one, or may link you with a physiotherapist with expertise in managing shoulder conditions to continue your rehabilitation.

Your ACC Claim
If you have an accepted ACC claim your Specialist Physiotherapy appointment may be fully funded. We will advise you of this at the time of booking.
